The Abia State government has reacted to the Aba pipeline explosion which claimed the lives 19 persons in on Friday.
The State government, in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information, John Okiyi Kalu called on relevant agencies and organization to thoroughly investigate the remote causes of the explosion with a view to preventing future occurrence in the state. The statement reads;
“The Government of Abia State received with deep sadness the news of the pipeline explosion that occurred along the Osisioma axis of the state which claimed a number of lives and left many others injured.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the unfortunate incident, their families and friends, as we mourn with them.
“We wish to call on relevant agencies and organizations to thoroughly investigate the remote and immediate causes of the explosion with a view to unravelling the cause and preventing a future occurrence of such unfortunate incident in our State and Nigeria in general.
“All relevant State agencies, including medical emergency responders, have been mobilized to assist the wounded recover as soon as possible.
“May the Lord grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss and the injured speedy recovery.”
The Abia command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday confirmed the death of 19 persons following the pipeline explosion.
