According to reports reaching Lailasnews.com, a 400 level student at the department of electrical/electronics engineering at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, has reportedly died in the swimming pool of the Yankari Games Resort.
The student was said to have drowned while swimming in the pool on Sunday.
According to Punch, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kamal Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to newsmen said that the Command got a call from an undisclosed source concerning the incidence.
He said that men of the Command were immediately deployed and they recovered the student, after which he was rushed to the Remee Clinic, GRA, where he died while receiving treatment.
He gave the name and identity of the deceased as Gabriel Emmanuel Chinonso, a 400 level student of the Electrical Electronics department at ATBU.
Abubakar said that the student died “an unnatural death,” with no foul play suspected.
He said the corpse was transferred from the Renee Clinic to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where it was deposited.
This happening after we reported that a man identified as Ubong Ekpe and his brother have reportedly lost their lives after they drowned at a beach party they both attended.
According to reports, he was the branch manager of a commercial bank in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The duo is reported to have gone to Ibeno Beach where they attended a friend’s birthday party on Sunday before their tragic deaths.
The late Ubong was a Catholic faithful who worshipped with his family at St. Anthony’s Parish, Ewet Housing.
Those who spoke on the demise of Ubong Ekpe described him as a jovial, easygoing and compassionate person. He is also said to have been a philanthropist who was quick to assist those who came to him for one form of help or the other.
