32-year-old Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin, member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibarapa East State constituency, has emerged Speaker of the House.
Ogundoyin, a second term lawmaker, emerged as the Speaker shortly after the Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Assembly on Monday morning, daily post reports.
Ogundoyin came to the 8th Assembly last year after he won the by-election which was held after the death of the former Speaker, Mr. Michael Adeyemo who died on Friday, 27th April 2018.
Ogundoyin, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also won the March 9th House of Assembly election and got elected to the present 9th Assembly.
Ogundoyin is one of four members that meet the house rules to be Speaker of being returning member and possess legislative experience while the other three are Wumi Oladeji who emerged on the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Oyeleke Adebola and Ashimiyu Alarape who both were elected on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tribune Online reports.
He emerged unopposed with a unanimous voice vote of the 32 members Assembly.
The new Speaker is an alumnus of Babcock University.
He is an Agronomist by profession.
Adebebo Ogundoyin is one of the sons of the late foremost philanthropist and industrialist, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin, a native of Eruwa in Oyo State.
The new Speaker is a football lover and fan of the Red Devils – Manchester United.
