Three wives of Alhaji Adamu Nakwana, a businessman in Maganda village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna state, were reportedly kidnapped this Sunday Morning and the abductors who released one of the women, also gave her a contact number with which to get in touch with them.
Daily Trust reported that the incident which occurred around 1.50am, left the community in disarray as it was further gathered that many residents are fleeing with their families to a safer place.
Speaking to a correspondent on the kidnap of the wives of the businessman, a resident of Maganda which is located along the road that leads to Funtua in Katsina state who pleaded anonymity, said:
“The bandits, about 80 of them in number locked down the whole town when they attacked on Sunday morning.
“They went straight to Alhaji Adamu’s house and took away his three wives. They did not harm any person but people are fleeing as they do not know if they will come back for another attack.”
“The bandits later released one of the women and gave her a number instructing that Alhaji Adamu should call them probably to negotiate for payment of ransom for the release of the women.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu was not available for comments at the time of filing the report.
This is coming few weeks after it was reported that a bride who was kidnapped with ten others on her way to her husband’s house in Kaduna State, was freed after a ransom payment. PRNigeria reported that Halima and her sister Shafa’atu who were kidnapped along Birnin-Gwari-Funtua road, regained their freedom around 8.40 am after her relatives paid N1 million to the abductors.
A family source closed to the kidnapped women disclosed that: “They were released after payment of one million naira to the Kidnappers yesterday, but the abductors kept the families in suspense for sixteen hours, but around 0500 hours local time, the abductors took the bride and her sister to the Mai unguwa of Tsohon (old) Birnin-Gwari.”
