He had initially shared the story of a patient who visited his hospital only for a test to show the daughter is a sickle cell carrier. When he advised that the father be invited to the hospital for counselling, the mother immediately started begging that her husband who is AA must not know his daughter has the condition. She would be unable to explain to him.

He wrote;

3 out of 10 Nigerian men are not biological fathers of their children. Nigeria has the 2nd highest rate of paternity fraud in the world after Jamaica. Many men have been unknowingly raising children that are not theirs & to curb the trend, DNA test should be considered at birth.

A child was brought in by the mother with a PCV of 8%. We discovered that the child has Sickle Cell Disease. I informed the mother & asked her to come with the father so that I can counsel them together. She begged me not to tell the ‘father’ who is AA. Guys, DNA test is a must!
