Eyitoluwa Olayeye has been arrested and charged to court for allegedly killing his 48-year-old mother, Kehinde Olayeye in a downtown hotel in Texas.
A Witness at the hotel told the police he heard a woman running through the hallways screaming around 4:15 am, he added that she was banging on doors screaming “let me in”, before he heard her being dragged back past his room.
The victim’s sister told the police that the two of them had flown to Texas from Georgia to visit Eyitoluwa. She said the day before they received a call from him rambling and saying “I pray God brings us together”.
His friends called us, saying Eyitoluwa told them he had found his purpose in life, his friends called back again saying they had taken him to the hospital for a psych evaluation.
While at the airport, they received a call from doctors at Dell Seton Medical Center asking if their family had a history of mental illness, which I said we don’t and he was later discharged.
When we arrived at the apartment, Eyitoluwa seemed happy to see us and he told us he wanted to leave school, University of Texas” the victims said.
In an interview with the police, Eyitoluwa said after class on Tuesday, he went to the UT tower to pray. He said he remembers praying but the next thing he knew he was in an ambulance headed to the hospital.
He said doctors asked him if he was diagnosed as bipolar or manic which he told them no. he told the police he remembers his mother standing over him praying, and the next thing he knew he was in the back of a police cruiser.
According to the police affidavit, when told his mother was dead, he said he must have been the one who killed her since no one else was in the room. He added that he had no reason to kill his mother.
Eyitoluwa Olayeye is currently charged with aggravated assault and a second-degree felony as it was further gathered that his late mother suffered a deep skull hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging around the neck, lacerations to her inner mouth and petechial hemorrhaging, as well as soft signs of strangulation.
