A 17-year-old girl has been jailed for urging her boyfriend to kill his ex-girlfriend to prove his love for her.
The 17-year-old Sarah Mohamed after encouraging her boyfriend to kill his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, waited outside the victim’s home in Openshaw, Manchester for two hours for him to commit the crime while still sending more than 50 text messages to encourage him to carry out the brutal attack in May earlier this year.
“Why you taking so long? Hurry up and do it,” reads one of the messages she sent to him.
On Friday, December 20, 2019, the pair were sentenced to 16 years in jail.
The plot started when Mohamed found out her boyfriend was continuing his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, 17-year-old Imam Nasir.
Speaking in Manchester Crown Court during her trial, she said she was angered and “felt humiliated”. She proceeded to end her relationship with him and said that he had “let her down” and that she “cannot trust him”.
Carty-Shaw her boyfriend however didn’t want to end the reationship after she found out and so decided to meet with Mohamed a day before the attack in an attempt to talk her round.
Hours after the meeting, Carty-Shaw made Google searches on asphyxiation and “how long do people get sentenced for murder” whilethe boy turned up at the victim’s home the following day with a change of clothes along with a large kitchen knife in his bag.
Later, Ms Nasir explained that Carty-Shaw had explained to her that he had to kill her and even asked if she could kill herself for him because he was under pressure to kill her so that people would not harm his family if he doesn’t do it.
At a point, he asked that she give the appearance of strangulation so that he could take a photograph and send it as fake evidence of her death only for him to bring out a knife after.
When Miss Nasir tried to call 999 and one of her friends, he prevented her from doing it and when she tried getting him to leave and pushing him down the stairs and out of the house, Carty-Shaw became extremely violent.
He ended up inflicting numerous blows that left her with wounds to her face, neck and armpit plus three to her back and she was lucky to escape with her life.
Luckily, Miss Nasir was not to have been killed in the attack, was taken to hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.
